Relaxing While the Husband is Away
As any wife knows, husbands travel for work or stay late to get a few last minute things done. David works a lot. When I say a lot, I mean at least twelve hours a day during the week and recently weekends. While I miss him when he’s gone, I do take that time out to take care of myself.
My favorite way to do this is to light a candle, start a bubble bath, and read other blogs on my iPad. I’m normally a member of the shower club rather than the bath group. I don’t always have time for a soak. Today I made an exception because my yoga class earlier in the afternoon was brutal and I knew I needed it.
I started the hot water and added soap from Bath & Body Works. The scent I chose was Italian Citrus Sun. I’m not super picky when it comes to soaps. If it smells good, I will most likely love it. I’ve had this particular bottle for a while, so I decided it was time to give it a go.
Knowing I would be soaking for a while, I made a cup of hot chocolate and grabbed a Star Crunch from Little Debbie. I’ve been doing so good about staying under within my goal through Weight Watchers and thought that one treat wouldn’t hurt anything.
For anyone that knows me, they know that I am a candle hoarder. More specifically, I am a hoarder of Yankee Candle products. I get their coupons every day in my email. Honey Clementine is a personal favorite of mine because it reminds me of home. When my mom and I would deep clean the house, I would light this scent or a scent similar to it.
Following other bloggers’ sites through WordPress Reader has been a blessing. It makes keeping up with new posts so much easier. I also get to support others while promoting my own site. I try to make it a point to comment on each post I read. Usually, I read the day’s post before we go upstairs for bed.
Some people like music playing while they’re relaxing and others don’t. I don’t mind it either way. Spotify recently deleted my account with all my saved songs. I decided to start using Amazon Music that’s included with my prime subscription. I’m working on building my new playlists, so I thought this was the perfect time to start a relaxation mix. In an effort to try and make my home more kid and family friendly, I really got into Christian music outside of traditional hymns. Can’t forget Texas country! And yes, there is a huge difference between country and what we listen to in Texas. This time around, I chose to add hymn instrumentals to my relaxation playlist. This mix can also be played when I’m trying to get the baby to go to sleep.
Taking some time to relax and treat myself is something I don’t do as much as I should. With David being gone so much, you would think I would be doing this at least once a month. Make it a point to take care of yourself too! After the kids go to sleep, at the end of a long day, or just a simple night planned to be alone with a nice glass of wine or hot chocolate in my case. You deserve it.
God Bless ♡
